I have recently discovered a valuable way to improve my marriage and love my husband.
I have learned to support my spouse’s diet needs and goals.
The story goes like this:
My husband was doing a food challenge for the Paleo diet and I was supposed to make a Paleo meatloaf. Now, it is not that hard to make a Paleo meatloaf, but I thought it would taste better with bread crumbs, which are no no on Paleo, rather than almond flour.
So I make the meatloaf and he is super excited for it, but I start feeling weird about the breadcrumbs. I tell him about the bread crumbs just as it’s coming out of the oven and ask if it is a big deal. Well it was since it was a food challenge and he was trying to be strict with it. Thankfully, he only joked about it as I made him sausages for dinner, but I could tell I had disappointed him. He really wanted that meatloaf!
I learned a valuable lesson that night! If your spouse is trying a new diet or just trying to eat healthier, it is really important to support them.
It is hard to be strict with something, especially if you are doing it without support. So, while I am not strictly following Paleo, I make dinners and other meals we eat together in line with that diet.
Part of my job as a wife is to make life a bit easier, and I can do that by making meals in line with my spouse’s diet goals.
